Define Simply Power Yoga  "What Simply Power Yoga means to me, Authentic movement. Authentic people. Powerful change.  Expanded version: Simply Power Yoga has been a refreshing place in my life where pure classical movement and authentic people have combined. As a result, my practice and teaching has been powerfully strengthened and changed."

Favorite Yoga Pose  "Inversions/Handstands - Inversions are one of my weakest poses, so I have made them my favorite.  They force me to take risks and stretch me to new places in my practice.

Amy’s interest in movement started as a young child. She took years of dance and gymnastics, played countless sports and achieved her first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. In junior high and high school, her preference for movement focused as her classical ballet and modern dance training gained momentum taking her to the collegiate level. Amy graduated Cum Laude from the University of Akron in 2009 with a Bachelors of Art in Dance with a business focus. Pilates and yoga were a natural extension and expectation of her dance training. She studied under master dance teachers, Pilates instructors, and yoga instructors during and after her college career. Her exposure to numerous modalities increased her love for movement and her desire to share the benefits with others. Her passion for whole body movement and her desire to serve led her to pursue teacher training. While attending the University of Akron, she completed her first Pilates certification through Body Technic Systems, Inc. where she was uniquely trained by a former Cleveland Clinic Physical Therapist. She had the opportunity to personally train clients of all ages and abilities and focus on tailoring her Pilates class towards any level of client. Upon her college graduation, she returned to her home in Cincinnati where she continued her dance training at De La Arts Place and furthered her career as a Pilates instructor at Pure Pilates Cincinnati. In 2011, Amy traveled to Chicago to complete her second Pilates certification through Power Pilates and has since continued training clients on both classical mat Pilates and the Pilates apparatuses. Most recently, Amy traveled to India on a mission trip where she was able to use her dance training to teach young women with a goal to bring them to a new place of wholeness. As a dancer, Pilates instructor, and Barre instructor Amy loves that she can share the benefits of somatics all around the world and now at SPY through a beautiful blend of Barre and Pilates.

“Maintaining overall physical excellence has always been a huge part of my life and a passion I love to share. Regularly building a strong and flexible body through varied movement is how I approach my persona physical wellness and my client’s physical wellness. I have found that keeping myself rooted in my foundation of faith, and focused on living a holistically balanced life – body, mind, and spirit - that I am able to live life freely and to its fullest. Each area of my life, both in and outside of the studio, has been greatly impacted by movement and as I seek to continue to live out this lifestyle, I hope to always be a student by regularly pursuing continued wellness education, to lead by example, and to be a place of encouragement and love for all people.”
